Annual Decosimo Tax Seminar Features Comprehensive Federal Tax Update
Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) October 16, 2014 -- Decosimo, a Top 100 accounting and business advisory firm, hosts the 2014 Decosimo Tax Seminar on Tuesday, November 11, at the Chattanooga Convention Center from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. The format for this year’s Decosimo Tax Seminar features a day-long Federal Tax Update and presentations on related topics by Rick Taylor of Wipfli, LLC. In addition to the comprehensive focus on key issues involving federal taxes, Decosimo plans to have members of the firm’s professional tax team lead “Ask the Expert” question and answer sessions during extend break times on topics including State and Local Tax, Federal Tax Credits and Estate Planning.
Decosimo has hosted annual tax and accounting seminars for more than 30 years. The cost to attend is $99, and the fee includes access to the full day of seminar activities and associated materials. A continental breakfast and lunch are included for attendees of the seminar. As the seminar’s featured presenter, Mr. Taylor is a noted author and is frequently quoted by the media as one of the nation’s leading experts on federal tax issues. Mr. Taylor, a licensed certified public accountant with more than 30 years of experience, is Partner in Charge for Tax with Wipfli CPAs and Consultants in Milwaukee, Wis. Among his duties at Wipfli, Mr. Taylor focuses on developing new planning techniques and offers a wide range of technical tax services to his clients. In addition to his accomplishments as a federal tax expert, Mr. Taylor is a developer and domain expert for two popular tax planning software programs.

- State & Local Tax: Larry Hyatt, CPA, CFE, Decosimo Principal & Director of State & Local Tax. Mr. Hyatt, a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner, is a principal with the Brentwood office of Decosimo specializing in federal, state and local tax. His broad experience ranges from 26 years with the Internal Revenue Service’s Intelligence Division, 11 years with the Senior Executive Service and more than three years as the Assistant Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Revenue before serving as a partner and the Director of State and Local Tax Department with a regional firm for six years. In his current role with Decosimo, Mr. Hyatt provides state and local tax research and related services for large, privately-owned companies and publicly-traded national and international companies alike. Much of his time is spent defending clients during federal, state and local income tax audits. As a highly regarded specialist in controversy resolution, he also provides training for other CPA firms in the service of their clients during federal, state, and local tax audits.
- Federal Tax Credits: Steve Pashley, CPA, J.D., LL.M, Senior Manager of Decosimo’s National Tax Services. As a senior manager with Decosimo’s national tax services practice, Mr. Pashley has significant experience assisting clients in the area of federal tax credits and incentives related to research and development (R&D), energy (including solar, wind, biomass investments), real estate and the domestic production activities deduction (DPAD). Mr. Pashley also advises clients regarding: accounting methods and periods issues; excise tax minimization strategies; and tangible personal property regulations implementation.
