Moosejaw’s New Outerwear Honors and Supports Their Hometown of Detroit
Madison Heights, Mi (PRWEB) October 18, 2014 -- Moosejaw is a leading outdoor company that’s based somewhat unexpectedly in suburban Detroit. Rather than hide their heritage, Moosejaw is embracing it with their new line of outerwear dubbed “The Detroit Collection.” Each piece is named after a Detroit street and is modeled by Notable Humans of Detroit – people doing amazing things to help revitalize the city. Also, part of the proceeds from each jacket will go to the Notable Humans’ favorite Detroit non-profit.
“We’re proud of our city and we’re proud of our new outerwear, so it seemed natural to bring the two together,“ says Eoin Comerford, Moosejaw’s CEO. “Once we had named The Detroit Collection, we realized that it was the perfect forum to recognize the incredible people who make our city what it is today.”
The Notable Humans of Detroit include community leaders like Carlo “Coach Khali” Sweeney of Detroit Youth Boxing Gym, entrepreneurs like Monica Breen of BE NICE Yoga, and artists like Everett Weathersby (a.k.a. Flaco Shalom). These are not the billionaires and philanthropists that grab headlines, but instead people who work every day to make an impact on their community. They have designated non-profits such as DBG Youth Program, Girls on the Run, and The Empowerment Plan to receive part of the proceeds of each jacket sold.
“With this year’s line, we’ve developed outerwear that’s truly worthy of carrying Detroit names,” says Steve Fife, Moosejaw’s Chief Merchant. “Each piece was painstakingly designed for the comfort and performance of people that live in the city and play in the outdoors. Articulation and fit of the garments were high priority, along with high quality performance materials like Primaloft® insulation, two-way stretch fleece and down-proof fabrics.”
Within these clean lines, subtle branding, and flawless function, you’ll still find the hidden “Madness” that is Moosejaw’s calling card. Zipper flaps are printed with things like “MY CAPS LOCK IS STUCK ON” and “Unicorns are the best jousters”. A pocket on most jackets has an attached antler bottle-opener… because that’s one thing you for sure don’t want to leave the house without.
