Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce that Jennah Rawahneh and Kelley Davis have been selected as 2014 recipients of the Society of Women Engineers’ (SWE) Turner Construction Company Scholarships.
“The Turner Construction Company scholarships offered through SWE are one of the ways we are making an investment in the diverse future of our industry and the larger workforce,” said Karen Sweeney, senior vice president of Diversity, Inclusion and Community at Turner. She continued, “I’m proud to be in a position to support these two passionate young women and I look forward to following their careers.”
The committee reviewed more than 3,700 strong applications, selecting Ms. Rawahneh, a student of civil engineering at Ohio University and Kelley Davis, a student of civil engineering at the University of Toledo, for their dedication to their engineering studies and their participation in the broader, industry community through associations, clubs, and organizations.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Turner Construction Company for their commitment to the SWE scholarship program,” wrote Inaas Darrat, scholarship coordinator for the Society of Women Engineers. She continued, “It is through the generosity of organizations such as yours that young women are fulfilling their dreams of becoming engineers and making significant contributions to society.”
Two scholarships of $2,500 are offered each year to rising sophomores who have elected to major in civil or mechanical engineering, or construction management.
