Spend Halloween Weekend at the San Francisco SPCA's "There's No Place Like Home" Celebration
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 16, 2014 -- Tricks and treats will be bountiful at the San Francisco SPCA’s Wizard of Oz-themed Halloween celebration, October 30th - November 2nd. The Adopt-A-Thon weekend kicks off with a cocktail party on Thursday night at the SF SPCA's Mission Campus. The theme, “There’s No Place Like Home,” inspires guests to help animals in need find their way into loving homes. Also at the SF SPCA's Mission Campus, Saturday will feature a pan-denominational blessing of the animals. Last but not least, adoption fees will be waived for all adult animals (6+ months) for the entire Halloween weekend!
Bring Toto and your ruby slippers for the “There’s No Place Like Home” cocktail party, hosted by the SF SPCA and 7x7, on October 30th from 5pm - 10pm. Costumes are encouraged! Admission is free but RSVP is required; see below for details. The special guest will be Tuna (@tunameltsmyheart) of Instagram fame. Fans can meet him and snap some photos with the famous pup. Instagram users are invited to tag #SFSPCAhalloween to document the night!
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz, the SF SPCA encourages “There’s No Place Like Home” 2 legged and 4 legged guests to saunter down the Yellow Brick Road. Come in costume and bask in the limelight or share the spotlight with your pet in matching outfits. Afterward quench your thirst at the bars, and indulge in vegetarian and vegan delights from San Francisco’s favorite food trucks: Hella Vegan Eats, Manna Japanese Comfort Food, Kasa Indian, EuroBistros, Frozen Kuhsterd and Kara's Cupcakes. There will, of course, be music and dancing!
The evening is sponsored by Zipcar, WagAware, and Subaru (they'll be bringing the all new 2015 Forrester). The SF SPCA has the goal to end animal homelessness by 2020—at this event, we will unveil Pawscout, a new partner that uses digital and social technology to aid in that mission. Working together, we can keep every pet safe and in their loving homes—your loving homes!
Come back Saturday, November 1st, for a pan-denominational blessing of the animals with Rabbi Camille Shira Angel of Congregation Sha’ar Zahav. Blessing begins at 1:30pm in the courtyard at the SF SPCA Mission Campus.
For those interested in adopting a new best friend, adoptions fees will be waived for cats and dogs 6+ months old from Thursday, October 30th through Sunday, November 2nd. This Halloween promotion will be available at both SF SPCA campuses (addresses below).

The San Francisco SPCA
The San Francisco SPCA is an independent, community-supported, non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to saving, protecting and providing immediate care for cats and dogs who are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate. The SF SPCA also works long-term to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying and neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their human companions.
