AgileMD, a Rock Health and Y-Combinator startup, launched a free mobile app this week containing the CDC’s Ebola transmission prevention guidelines, available for download on both Apple and Android devices. The publication on mobile platforms is already assisting healthcare providers put the CDC guidelines into practice and enable them to safely recognize and treat the disease.

Since launching the mobile app on Tuesday, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Nearly 2,000 physicians and nurses downloaded the mobile resource within hours of the announcement, and many new members have signed up. The most popular file has been the “Signs and Symptoms” document, followed by “About Ebola”, and “Transmission”.

New cases of Ebola among healthcare workers have fueled national concern that healthcare providers outside of a few specialty centers are not prepared to follow CDC protocol correctly. Borna Safabakhsh, CEO and Cofounder of AgileMD, stresses that “the first step to being prepared is being informed. We’ve purpose-built AgileMD to give all levels of medical professionals access to critical medical expertise when and where they need it.”

In parallel to this effort, the AgileMD works daily to deploy medical information through their collaborations with doctors at the World Health Organization and academic medical centers.

The CDC has extensive information on diagnosis and management of Ebola located on their website. With permission, AgileMD published these CDC protocols on their mobile platform so any physician can keep a reference in their pocket at all times. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or http://www.agilemd.com. Sign up for free access at http://agile.md/join/cdc-ebola-guidelines
