To encourage creativity, EI Design chose photography as September’s team building activity.
“In a continuous effort to foster team building, we chose a photography competition wherein the participants were allowed to use any device to enrich the outcome of their imagination,” says founder Asha Pandey.
In the beginning of this fiscal year, EI Design’s management and development team collectively identified and initiated a goal to make EI Design a preferred workplace. In adherence to this goal, each team member is encouraged to share their ideas and platforms are provided for everyone to demonstrate their talent. The ongoing learning and development program also ensures improvement of each individual’s ongoing potential.
The photography competition was named “Let’s Get Snappy” and featured three themes:
3. People at work
Each team member could participate across all three categories. “We maintained the same accord in evaluation, providing participation through polls where every individual could vote for the best photograph he or she identified among each of the groups,” says Asha.
In a week’s span, during which the contest was open, nearly 150 photographs were captured, printed and displayed, turning the office into a temporary art gallery.
The visuals spoke for themselves and the team was united in appreciating the truly outstanding efforts. For example, surrounding greenery looked amazing in a snap that also capturing the shimmering response of a tranquil water face, alight with the sun’s morning greeting. Another photo covered a flavour of diversity with the last blue blanket of sky getting ready to embrace the dusk while miniature beings are found busy settling their trade under the incandescent light bulbs. A photo of a cycle-cart grabbed everyone’s attention. The upper tier was the upshot of a common man’s necessity to stay away from stray creatures while he wanted to take a rest from his duties while waiting for his next customer.
Carrying through with the inspiration from the event, a few team members purchased better lenses while some did analysis on the light and shade of the photographs on display.
“I am more confident now. I would like to apply my experience of waiting for the correct natural lighting until the outcome matches what I had in mind,” said one of the enthusiastic team members after the event.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with this team building exercise,” concludes Asha. “It was enriching on both the professional and personal level, which is what we want for the team. A balanced, healthy work/life balance with continuous learning opportunities helps enable EI Design’s team to produce the outstanding work we are known for.”
