Wanting your business to be successful is different than knowing you have the resources and cash flow to take your business to that next level.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 22, 2014
C2C Resources, an Atlanta-based commercial debt collection agency, released a comment on a recent study published by Albion Ventures that claims cash flow is the main problem for small business growth.
The study, featured in Bridging & Commercial in an article titled “SME growth hampered by cash flow concerns” by Chanice Henry (September 22, 2014), found that most businesses fail due to cash flow, not when they are starting out, but when they are trying to grow after increased business confidence.
“Taking steps toward growth is good for a business, but when business owners try to expand too quickly that is when you have problems,” explained Todd Tinkler, President of C2C Resources. “Business owners need to plan their growth and make sure they have the right staffing and business plan in place for success.”
Tinkler believes the problem that many small and medium sized businesses have is investing emotional growth in their business instead of planned systematic growth. While he believes that encouraging growth is essential, businesses need to operate on a business plan that pairs increased resources with the growth.
According to the Albion Growth Report, over-confidence in businesses occurs mostly in firms in the production industry, who do not operate with a conservative cash flow forecast. Tinkler believes that even when a business is experiencing success and growth, as the economy continues to improve, businesses should be cautious should the economic conditions worsen.
“Invest in your business with a planned approach and you will most likely be much more successful,” said Tinkler. “Wanting your business to be successful is different than knowing you have the resources and cash flow to take your business to that next level.”
