Micro Bird Announces ISO 9001:2008 Certification
Drummondville, QC (PRWEB) October 17, 2014 -- Micro Bird is proud to announce ISO 9001:2008 certification of its Drummondville, Quebec manufacturing facility. The new International Standards Organization (ISO) designation underscores Micro Bird’s commitment to safety, quality, durability, serviceability and assures that customers continue to receive the highest level of quality buses. This achievement follows Blue Bird Fort Valley’s certification which was awarded in 2013.
Developed by the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 9001:2008 is an international quality standard which uses a process approach for developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management program for manufacturing companies. ISO standards ensure that products are safe, reliable and exhibit good quality. Important components of ISO 9001:2008 include customer satisfaction and establishing processes for continuous improvement. The certification also mandates periodic audits by ISO registrars to ensure the company is in compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard.
“Micro Bird is proud to receive this certification as it continues to reinforce our corporate culture which highlights quality and reputation,” said Steve Girardin, president and CEO of Micro Bird, Inc. “Throughout North America, Micro Bird is known as the premiere manufacturer of Type A school, activity and commercial buses. This ISO designation strengthens Micro Bird and Blue Bird’s commitment to building innovative and quality buses that our customers value.”
Established in 2009, Micro Bird is a joint-venture company between Blue Bird and the Girardin Family— a long-standing relationship that spans nearly 50 years. Today, the Micro Bird manufacturing facility extends over 165,000 square feet and employs over 300 people.
Blue Bird’s Fort Valley manufacturing plant achieved its ISO 9001:2008 certification in April 2013. The Fort Valley plant features over one million square feet of production space and employs over 1,600 people.
