Dr. Jay Udani of Medicus Research Presented Results from a Study on the Dukan Diet at The American College Of Nutrition’s Annual Conference on October 16th
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 17, 2014 -- During the 55th Annual American College of Nutrition Conference on October 16 in San Antonio, Dr. Jay Udani, CEO of Medicus Research LLC and Medical Director of Northridge Hospital Integrative Medicine Program, presented the final results from a recent study on the popular Dukan Diet. The study, which was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Dukan Diet’s online coaching, showed statistically significant and steady weight loss among all subjects over the 24-week period.
A total of 48 subjects completed the study including all four phases of the diet, with the Attack and Cruise phase starting from the first week running through week eight, and the Consolidation and Stabilization phase running through week eight to week 24. Participants lost on average nearly 12 pounds, and as much as 45 pounds, over the course of the study.
“The results from this study are both statistically and clinically significant and show that the Dukan Diet appears to be a safe and effective program for weight loss and management. The weight loss was consistent throughout the entire 24 week study, which is very unusual and impressive,” explains Dr. Udani.
Participants of the study were all healthy volunteers ranging in age from 30 to 65; they had never previously participated in the Dukan Diet and were considered to be 25 pounds or more above their calculated “true weight.” During the trial period, each participant was provided with an initial screening to determine their medical history and personal information. The online coaching gave each participant access to one-on-one advice and close monitoring from a Dukan Diet nutritionist. The eCompliance applications were used to send daily images to be reviewed of all meals that had been consumed by the participant and an image of their daily weight on the scale. This advanced monitoring system allowed the researchers to track results for the clinical trial endpoints
