Northwood University Named to Victory Media’s 2015 Military Friendly® Schools List
Midland, Michigan (PRWEB) October 20, 2014 -- Northwood University, based in Midland, Michigan, announced today that it has been designated a 2015 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, the leader in successfully connecting the military and civilian worlds.
Now in its sixth year, the Military Friendly® Schools designation and list by Victory Media is the premier, trusted resource for post-military success. Military Friendly® provides service members transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.
Northwood University has served U.S. military and service members and veterans since its inception in 1959. For 35 years the global, free-enterprise business school has had installations at the Air National Guard Base in Selfridge, Michigan, and aboard the Naval Air Station bases in New Orleans and Fort Worth, Texas. Northwood University has about 400 enrolled service members now in its programs at 22 locations throughout its system and has graduated more than 2,200 over the years.
The university is approved to offer degrees to active service members through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Voluntary Education Program and Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC). Northwood University also offers an exclusive tuition discount benefit for qualified candidates pursing their undergraduate degree from Northwood University's Adult Degree Program and also participates in the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon veterans’ benefits program to help military veterans pursue their educational goals through its mix of traditional residential, adult degree program and graduate school experiences.
The Military Friendly® Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past six years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country. The survey captures over 50 leading practices in supporting military students and is available free of charge to the more than 8,000 schools approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding.
“We are honored to be included on the Military Friendly® Schools list and to be recognized for our programs that support our service men and women,” says Keith A. Pretty, Northwood University president and CEO. “We have a strong intent to meet the unique needs of service members and their families as they pursue higher education. Many graduates from our programs have gone on to continue their military service careers or have pursued employment in the fields of business. We are proud to continue this tradition.”
