Seniorlink Inc. Announces the Acquisition of Vayu Technologies
Boston, MA and Springfield, NJ (PRWEB) October 20, 2014 -- Seniorlink Inc., parent company of Caregiver Homes Network, Inc., has acquired the assets of Vayu Technologies from physician executive and entrepreneur Minalkumar Patel MD MPH.
The Vayu Technologies tele-care management platform is a unique collaboration hub for Inter Disciplinary Teams (IDTs) to manage Person Centered Service Plans (PCSPs) consistent with guidance provided by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The Vayu Technologies team developed this novel platform while at Bell Labs, the industrial research arm of Alcatel-Lucent. The technology was developed in cooperation with large integrated delivery systems clients. “After proving our platform could manage all the point to point, episodic video conferencing, and remote patient monitoring found in the latest tele-medicine platforms, we noted a real and present deficit in multidisciplinary care team coordination. We quickly recognized the need to combine our tele-care management platform with contextual, persistent information in order to manage the most complex patients,” said Dr. Sid Ahuja, a Bell Labs Fellow and current Vice President of Application Services for Vayu Technologies. Dr Ahuja added that “clinicians and caregivers have a limited ability to gather, share and reference historic information on our most vulnerable and expensive consumers. We felt compelled to create the Virtual Patient Care RoomSM where workflow and context can enhance synchronous and asynchronous communication and be archived for review by other IDT participants.”
Seniorlink pioneered the Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) model in 2005, empowering live in caregivers to manage complex long term care and clinical services for older and younger adults with disabilities in the community. The SFC model is enabled through state of art technology and highly-qualified clinical and social work professionals and operates under the brand, Caregiver Homes Network. The model, since inception, has served over 5,000 skilled nursing facility eligible consumers at half the cost to CMS and state Medicaid programs. Physicians, providers of other skilled services and MCO case management leadership have all come to rely upon Caregiver Homes to educate and coordinate services with trusted caregivers as extensions of their care management objectives.
William J. McIvor, Executive Vice President of Seniorlink, who will serve as President of the Vayu Technologies subsidiary, indicated that “the Vayu Technologies tele-care management platform will allow us to leverage Seniorlink content and analytics to extend the knowledge, reach and impact of empowered caregivers collaborating with IDTs on behalf of complex populations.”
“We are extremely excited about joining forces with the Vayu Technologies team," said Tom Riley, Chief Executive Officer of Seniorlink, Incorporated. "These talented technologists have built a ground-breaking platform to manage complex cases in a secure, virtual environment. As dual-eligible consumers are increasingly served by managed care, tools like the Virtual Patient Care Room will become indispensable options for practitioners to extend their reach while simultaneously managing dense, longitudinal patient information."
