METTLER TOLEDO XPE/XSE Analytical Balances win First Prize in Technology Awards from "Mesures" magazine
(PRWEB) October 21, 2014 -- On 1 June 2014, Mettler Toledo received a prestigious award for its XPE / XSE analytical balances at the 19th Technology Awards of French magazine "Mesures". The laboratory balances were crowned best innovative new product in the instrumentation category.
Every year, the editors from Mesures, a Paris-based monthly that reports on instrumentation and industrial automation, identify the top products featured in the publication. Christophe Blaisse, lab division manager of Mettler Toledo France was delighted to accept the award from Mesures.
The XPE / XSE analytical balances are at the forefront of weighing technology, designed to simplify processes and increase weighing reliability to a higher level. These balances can alert the user of any interference present and maximise the accuracy of the weighing result obtained, with traceability of data at the forefront. The new innovative features ensure full traceability and regulatory compliance with requirements such as United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 41 and 1251.
The new features include:
StatusLight™ confirms balance is ready to use
A green light on this status indicator reassures the operator that the balance is ready for use, i.e. level, calibrated, with routine tests carried out at suitable intervals. A yellow light advises caution, as calibration is due shortly or a balance test is in progress. A red light advises that there is an issue that needs resolving before the balance is used, in order to safeguard weighing results.
StaticDetect™ prevents electrostatic errors
The tare container and/or the sample to be weighed can easily be charged with static electricity. This can cause errors in the weighing results or inability to obtain stable results on the balance. This new sensor technology detects an electrostatic charge on the sample and/or container. The weighing error is subsequently calculated and a warning is given if this value exceeds the tolerance limit set by the user. A new antistatic accessory is compact, integrated and autonomous. It plugs directly into the balance for convenient deionization of samples and containers loaded.
RFID technology ensures process security
Using RFID tags on SmartSample™ beakers, titration information about the sample captured once at the balance (sample ID, weight result) can be securely transferred to the RFID tag attached to the beaker. This information can be read automatically at the titrator, rather than entered manually again, saving time and avoiding sample mix-ups and beakers in the wrong position on the titrator.
Pipettes bearing RFID tags can be scanned via the EasyScan™ balance to check calibration and test dates, ensuring that they are ready for use. The new RFID capabilities provide the user with a higher level of process security.
Compliance and data traceability
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) can be incorporated into LabX software from Mettler Toledo, so that step-by-step instructions are displayed on the balance touch screen.
Tedious writing tasks can be avoided by automated data management, calculations and reporting. This also eliminates transcription errors and ensures full traceability of results.
XPE / XSE balances equipped with LabX software meet the safety requirements of the most stringent processes, guaranteeing accurate results for the user, as well as compliance with regulations and guidelines, such as USP 41 and 1251.
