Brake Rotor Resurfacing for the Automotive Aftermarket: BRM Announces Flex-Hone® for Rotors Article and Video for AAPEX Tradeshow (Booth 1152)
Los Angeles, CA (USA) (PRWEB) October 22, 2014 -- Brush Research Manufacturing (BRM), leading supplier of surface finishing technologies, is announcing a new technical article about Flex-Hone® for Rotors tools. The California manufacturer is publishing Brake Rotor Finishing for the Automotive Aftermarket in time for AAPEX 2014, an industry-leading tradeshow for the $395-billion global motor vehicle aftermarket.
As the BRM article explains, the Flex-Hone® for Rotors imparts the ideal surface finish to new and re-turned brake rotors. From November 3 to 6, 2014, Brush Research will showcase automotive surface finishing tools at AAPEX 2014 (Booth #1152) at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, NV. Distributor programs are available for jobbers and stocking warehouse distributors, and export inquiries are welcome.
Flex-Hone® Technology for Brake Rotor Finishing
Like other BRM Flex-Hone® tools, the Flex-Hone® for Rotors has long-lasting abrasive globules that are permanently bonded to flexible nylon filaments. Unlike other flexible honing tools, however, the Flex-Hone® for Rotors isn’t designed for cylinder wall surface finishing. Instead, this specialized finishing tool imparts the ideal surface finish to disc brake rotors and flywheels.
BRM supplies Flex-Hone® for Rotors tools in coarse, medium, and fine grits for both original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket brake rotors. BRM rotor hones mount in handheld power tools such as corded or cordless drills, and can be used with production machinery for automated surface finishing. Flex-Hone® for Rotors users include mechanics, machinists, and auto parts manufacturers.

As BRM’s article explains, brake rotors that lack the proper surface finish may squeak or squeal. Related brake problems include poor pad seating and break-in, greater friction and wear, and buildups of brake pad glazing and surface rust. As this BRM YouTube video shows, however, Flex-Hone® for Rotors tools impart a unidirectional surface finish that also reduces harmonic vibrations.
