Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 20, 2014 -- The Business Intelligence experts at Dunn Solutions created a data model that predicts the Kansas City Royals will win the 2014 World Series.
A predictive analytics data model using SAP Predictive Analysis was built using batting and pitching statistics compiled over the past five years to determine a “team strength” metric. This metric was used to determine which statistics influenced the most percentage of wins and to predict the outcome of each game, the winners of each league championship, and ultimately the predicted winner of the 2014 World Series.
The model successfully predicted three of the four teams who made it to the league championships. The model failed to predict the San Francisco Giants as the National League Champion because of their low team strength metric. Are the San Francisco Giants somehow destined to be this year’s World Series winners? Not according to the Dunn Solutions team who predicts that the Kansas City Royals will prevail due to a very high pitching variable.
