OEConnection Establishes Technology Partnership With Baldwin Wallace University
Richfield, Ohio (PRWEB) October 21, 2014 -- OEConnection LLC, the parts e-commerce technology leader for OEM distribution networks and a recognized technology employer-of-choice in Northeast and Central Ohio, has announced a partnership with Baldwin Wallace University (BW) to facilitate technology research and development for its business. This unique collaboration between the two institutions, which helps to highlight OEC’s ongoing commitment to the development of technology talent in Northeast and Central Ohio, aims to engage students in developing solutions for real-world technology challenges.
“OEC has been a tremendous advocate for technology education and has been working closely with BW to identify ways to prepare our students for the growing field of software development,” said Jodi Tims, Chair of the Department of Math and Computer Science at BW. “This partnership enables our Computer Science students, specifically those focused on our newly established Software Engineering major, to gain valuable experience solving business problems.”
Software Engineering student interns from BW’s Center for Innovation & Growth (CIG) will work with supervision from the Math and Computer Science faculty and in partnership with developers from OEC on an inaugural project beginning this fall. In 2015, BW and OEConnection will expand this partnership program to include semester and full academic year ‘capstone’ projects. Students are paid an hourly rate for this project work.
“The Center for Innovation & Growth is excited to expand its long-standing partnership with OEC,” said Lacey Kogelnik, the Center’s director. “We’re grateful to continue working on innovation initiatives with OEC’s leadership and technology teams and believe the sky is the limit with the addition of talent from BW’s new software engineering program.”
OEC VP & CTO Katherine Golden added, “I am very excited about the value this partnership will bring to BW students, OEConnection, and to Northeast Ohio as a whole. BW students will gain the type of experience that helps prepare them for high demand software jobs when they graduate. OEConnection will most certainly benefit from the creative problem solving abilities of these students. And it is my hope that this partnership will serve as a model job development program that technology employers and universities throughout the region will want to replicate.”
