Executive leadership is faced with converging priorities with an eye to the future, and CIOs, rightfully so, have to evolve their role in the organization, lead innovation, and position IT to enable the future.

Jody Cervenak, Principal at Aspen Advisors, is among the healthcare IT industry executives chosen to present at the CHIME14 Fall CIO Forum. The premier event for healthcare information technology executives will take place in San Antonio, TX, from October 28-31, 2014.

Cervenak will be moderating a panel on the evolving role of the CIO to support healthcare 2020 along with three long-standing, well-respected CIOs who all have been honored with the CHIME/HIMSS John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year Award: Edward Marx, FCHIME, Senior Vice President and CIO, Texas Health Resources; Rick Schooler, FCHIME, LCHIME, CHCIO, Vice President and CIO, Orlando Health; and Jim Turnbull, DHA, FCHIME, LCHIME, CIO, University of Utah Health Care.

The panel, to be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014, will provide perspectives on the changing role of the healthcare CIO as we move to healthcare 2020 and discuss ways to evolve and adapt into a new and improved model. Panelists will share their views on realizing the value of IT, the future of healthcare delivery, managing change, addressing cost pressures and strategies for supporting reform, and ways to effectively prepare for the future. This will be a highly interactive session with attendees providing their insight as well.

“Executive leadership is faced with converging priorities with an eye to the future, and CIOs, rightfully so, have to evolve their role in the organization, lead innovation, and position IT to enable the future,” said Cervenak. “I am extremely excited about this group of panelists sharing their insight on this topic at the CHIME14 Fall CIO Forum. We’ll address the implications that current challenges place on the CIO and IT leadership and discuss successful approaches to position for success. Attendees will gain perspectives from three very different CIOs on how to lead innovation within healthcare organizations.”

Cervenak, a Principal at Aspen Advisors, leverages her more than 20 years of experience in planning, implementing, and leading healthcare information technology solutions to support her clients. Before joining Aspen Advisors, Cervenak served as the CIO of a 3,000 member physician practice plan at a major academic medical center. Cervenak holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and a MBA from the Tepper School of Business at CMU.
