Brand New Musical - a Sequel to Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" - "God Bless Us, Every One!" to Premiere
Novi, Michigan (PRWEB) October 23, 2014 -- In 1998, David Basel, the Minister of Creative Arts at Brightmoor Christian Church, met Robert Sterling and Deborah Craig-Claar at a large music convention in San Diego, California. Robert and Deborah are renowned in the music industry as the go-to writers of Christian music and musical theater. In the years since this meeting, David, Robert and Deborah have worked together developing and presenting great musical theater projects. In 1998, the story of "God Bless Us, Every One!" was conceptualized and created by Robert Sterling and Deborah Craig-Claar. In 2013, it was time to write the musical. Robert Sterling took the wheel and wrote the script, the songs and orchestrated the musical. The musical was completed early in 2014. In July of 2014, one of the largest orchestras ever, gathered in a studio in Nashville, Tennessee to record the stellar orchestrations. At the end of each session, composer and conductor, Robert Sterling, received applause from musicians and singers in the studio. "We simply don't get to play this kind of music much anymore," was commented often by the group of professional musicians.
Brightmoor Christian Church has emphasized the creative arts throughout its 88-year history. Productions like this have been done with the intent and hope of blessing the community and presenting the message of hope, love and joy.
"For the past few years we have really tried to raise the bar theatrically," says David Basel, the director and producer of "Christmas at Brightmoor" and "Easter at Brightmoor."
In 2012, Robert Sterling and Deborah Craig-Claar developed their musical, "The Christmas Post" for premier at Brightmoor Christian Church. In 2013 and 2014, Robert and Deborah developed their musical of the life of Christ - "The Promise" - for Brightmoor Christian Church. Now, the premier of this brand new musical, "God Bless Us, Every One!" marks a level of excellence in musical theater previously unreached.
"This is bigger than anything I've ever produced," says David Basel, "this is truly a Broadway musical."
"God Bless Us, Every One!" is the well-known statement made by Tiny Tim in the classic, "A Christmas Carol." This musical is the never-before-told story of Tiny Tim - now Dr. Timothy Cratchit. 30 new pieces of music have been written for this musical, including the great song, "Soon," sung by Tim Cratchit, "A World of Difference," sung by Bertie Fezziwig (played by Brightmoor's Minister of Worship and recording artist, Renee' Basel), and the inspiring "Now's The Time," sung by Tim and the company. David Basel says, "Robert Sterling has masterfully and beautifully built a bridge connecting 'A Christmas Carol' to what happens next."
Brightmoor Christian Church's productions always feature members of the congregation. This year the role of Tim Cratchit is played by David Wise of Nashville, Tennessee. David has partnered with Brightmoor on several projects being one of the studio voices for the recordings. "When I heard this music in the studio, I wanted to be a part of this show," says David Wise. David recently played the role of "Tarzan" in the Nashville performance of Disney's "Tarzan." He is known throughout the music industry as a great singer, composer, arranger, worship leader and of course, actor. "God is really in this," says David Basel. Regarding David Wise, David Basel says, "we are so blessed that we have connected with this extremely talented actor and musician. I can't wait for our audience to see David Wise play this great role. It is going to be very special." David Wise rounds out a cast of Brightmoor favorites. "This is the perfect storm when it comes to casting," David Basel says, "they are going to do a great job!"
"Christmas at Brightmoor" is the name of the event. The show presented this year is "God Bless Us, Every One!"
