CWA Local 1039 Endorses Derek Armstead for Linden Mayor
Trenton, New Jersey (PRWEB) October 23, 2014 -- Elected 4th Ward Councilman for the City of Linden in 1993, Derek Armstead has been a strong voice for his community. As Mayor, Armstead will focus on converting the polluted land in the city’s industrial section for usage in “green” industries, such as the manufacturing of solar panels or other clean technology. He will also go after the companies that have plants remaining in the city’s industrial area and make them clean up those properties.
Armstead plans to increase economic development in Linden by enticing private investors to create a Soho-type retail district around the Linden Train Station. Armstead also has a viable plan for reducing crime, especially robberies by street gangs involved in drug trafficking.
CWA 1039 President Lionel Leach has stated, “Derek Armstead has spent his career working tirelessly for the youth and residents of Linden. Mr. Armstead is a strong fighter for working families in New Jersey and a supporter of Labor Unions. Our members firmly believe that he best represents the interests of Linden residents and working families.”
CWA Local 1039 is the labor union that represents and advocates on behalf of 5,000 public & private sector workers and Taxi drivers in the state of NJ.
