Our Author Members need excellent services; our Partner members want to showcase their services to authors. The Directory is one of a number of ways in which we meet those needs.
LONDON (PRWEB UK) 22 October 2014
Nonprofit writers’ association, the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi), is delighted to unveil the preview of its first dedicated Self-Publishing Services Directory.
Aimed at ALLi members and independent authors across the world, the Directory, which will launch in January 2015, is the first of its kind: a showcasing of vetted services for self-publishers, combined with advice and tips on assembling the perfect team to produce books and literary projects that adhere to ALLi standards of ethics and excellence.
All services listed are checked against ALLi’s code of standards and approved via the ALLi Watchdog team, headed by Giacomo Giammatteo and including Victoria Strauss and Mick Rooney.
The Directory will be released twice-yearly to existing ALLi members and to the wider author community via ALLi’s main website and their Self Publishing Advice blog. Listings include companies from the full spectrum of publishing, including editorial, design, promotion, production and other author services.
“Our Self-Publishing Service Directory responds to a huge gap in the global author services market - an impartial and independent guide that is current, coherent and most importantly, credible and trustworthy” said ALLi Director, Orna Ross. “ALLi is aware of the challenges for authors looking for professionals to bring on board for their book project, which can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our Author Members need excellent services; our Partner members want to showcase their services to authors. The Directory is one of a number of ways in which we meet those needs.”
Other ways in which Author and Partner Members of ALLi connect include a searchable (by subject and location) database in the member zone and closed member forums and reaching out to Author members with discounts and deals.
The preview issue features editorial content on standards and ethics, an issue increasingly important for an author, whether traditional or independent; an ALLi watchdog review and tips throughout on how any author can select the right services for their needs.
Now in public testing via: http://www.selfpublishingadvice.org/allis-self-publishing-service-directory/, ALLi will organise feedback groups for both service providers and for authors, to ensure the directory continues to meet the needs of the self-publishing community. Interested parties should contact Communications Manager, Nerys Hudson.
“One of our cornerstones is to encourage all sectors of the self-publishing world - from aspiring author-publishers to global service providers - to aim for the highest standards of ethics and excellence” said Ross. “This directory is an important step towards realising that goal, and we look forward to the feedback our partners and author members have to give”.
