Local, Interactive Children’s Museum Opens Its Doors to the Public Friday, October 24, 2014, at 10:00am

Southern California Children’s Museum announces its Grand Opening this Friday, October 24, 2014. Complementary admission tickets will be given to the first 25 people, and free balloons will be available for children all day.

Located in the heart of Pasadena, Southern California Children’s Museum’s temporary space is small but mighty – packed with fun activities that support our mission of motivating learning through interactive exhibits, creative experiences and dramatic play. Designed for families with children under the age of 8, the museum offers a Farmers Market corner, performing arts stage – complete with costumes, and several sensory play activities. It also has a private room for special events like birthdays.

“We are delighted to see our vision come to life, even as we continue to search for a permanent home” said Catherine Welch, founder and president of the Museum. “Although it’s a small start, we’ve designed the space to capture kids’ imaginations for hours, with new experiences tucked into every corner. I’m so grateful to all the families who have worked hard to make this a reality, and can’t wait for new families to come experience all the museum has to offer.”

For a limited time, the museum is also home to a traveling exhibit, “Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl: Home Sweet Home.” This interactive educational exhibit was created by the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, in collaboration with the United States Forest Service. Complete with trees, streams, lakes and even a Forestry Service bungalow, this exhibit inspires children to discover and care for the natural resources that sustain our world – our home sweet home.
