Bake425˚ brings local flavor to the fore with a grand opening party Saturday, October 25, from 1pm to 4pm

As cooler weather brings local farmers markets to a close, a new bake-at-home pizza concept is keeping fresh, locally grown flavors in season all year round.

Bake425˚ opens its doors in Winnetka (544 Lincoln Ave.) on Saturday, October 25, with a grand opening celebration from 1pm to 4pm, featuring delicious samples of its from-scratch pizzas, small-batch sodas and gluten-free cookies.

Pastry chef Ambrose Erkenswick, founder Bill Borneman and the Bake425˚ team will be on hand to talk about the ways in which they strive to reduce the number of steps from farm to crust — everything from sourcing local and organic ingredients to making their own mozzarella, sauces and dough in house daily. They will be joined by some of the artisanal producers and local farms that play starring roles on the Bake425˚ menu.

With the opening of Bake425˚, Winnetka locavores and foodies can indulge in seasonal flavors already assembled into bake-at-home pizzas such as the Butternut Deluxe, an autumnal melange of cremini mushrooms, walnuts, kale, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil scattered atop a layer of slow-simmered butternut squash sauce and blanketed in smoked mozzarella. Or salads such as the Pollo Fresco, a crisp mix of mesclun and romaine tossed with grilled corn, herbed chicken, roasted red peppers, toasted pepitas and queso fresco, and drizzled with cilantro-lime dressing.

The Winnetka location is the second Bake425˚ spot to open this year. The company’s flagship store in Highland Park opened on August 22, 2014. Additional stores are planned in Evanston, Lake Forest and Glencoe.

Bake425˚ is open Monday–Thursday from 2pm to 8pm and Friday–Sunday from 1pm to 8pm. Orders may be placed by calling (847) 501-5000.
