NBCC Foundation Awards GCDF Scholarship to Courtney L. Hartzog
Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) October 30, 2014 -- The NBCC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. (NBCC), recently awarded a 2014 NBCC Foundation Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) scholarship to Courtney Hartzog, of West Jefferson, North Carolina. The goal of the GCDF scholarship program is to increase the number of available counselors providing quality career guidance and facilitation. In doing so, the GCDF scholarship program plays an important role in the Foundation’s mission to leverage the power of counseling by strategically focusing resources for positive change. Hartzog will receive $5,000 to support her counseling education and recognize her commitment to providing career counseling and guidance.
Ms. Hartzog holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where she is currently enrolled in the professional school counseling master’s program. Ms. Hartzog lives in the neighboring town of West Jefferson, where she has provided career services to underserved adolescents. She is a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and is currently a graduate assistant in the Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling, providing clerical and organizational support to academic programs.
Ms. Hartzog’s goal as a Foundation Scholar is to enhance educational opportunities and provide career counseling services to children and adolescents in low-income, rural communities. In addition, she plans to develop a comprehensive school counseling program providing character education, student advocacy, family support, and social and emotional development through expressive arts therapy.
