Annese Helps Beekmantown Schools Go Fully Wireless to Support 21st Century Learning Model
Clifton Park, N.Y. (PRWEB) October 23, 2014 -- With the Smart Schools Bond Act slated for the Nov 4th election, districts across the State can look to Beekmantown Central School District, located in West Chazy, as a beacon for technological advancement. The District worked with longtime technology partner, Annese & Associates, Inc., to transform its network into a foundation upon which 21st century teaching and learning could flourish. The full campus-wide wireless deployment went live as the 2014 Fall school semester commenced.
Annese was first introduced to the District through a recommendation from the Northeastern Regional Information Center (NERIC), more than ten years ago. As its Director, Dale Breault, points out, “Technology should just be seamlessly woven into every aspect of education—you shouldn’t even really know it’s there, per se.” Throughout the partnership, Annese and Beekmantown have continually exercised a shared vision for pushing the boundaries of what is possible, both with efficiencies and opportunities for the District’s end users, the staff and students; and this project was no exception. “Enterprise-wide wireless networking is a game changer in the K-12 space,” said Brent Jones, Annese Account Manager.
The deployment will set the stage for online testing, bring-your-own device (BYOD), and flipped learning initiatives across the District—all important drivers for the investment. “Our teachers want to explore outside their classroom. They don’t just want to go to the lab, they want their classrooms to be the lab, and our wireless infrastructure will allow that to happen so that learning can occur wherever it needs to,” adds Gary Lambert, Educational Technology Coordinator at Beekmantown. “A connected classroom now means that students are always connected to their learning environment whether that’s at home, on the bus, or at school.”
The technical benefits of this pursuit also include higher throughput, better capacity and consistency of coverage, and centralized network management.
“We may be a small District physically,” said Gary, “but with partners like Annese, you’d never know it. We’ve been able to do things that everyone else does or wants to do. Our District has the opportunity to provide world-class education in a small town setting.”
