Work Market Launches Next Generation Enterprise Freelance Management Features, Building Upon Proprietary FMS Framework

New Freelance Management System™ features provide enterprise with the tools they need to better manage and optimize the freelance workstream at scale. At the core of the Freelance Management System ™ is Work Market’s proprietary FMS Framework, which brings operational efficiency to help enterprises as they more effectively identify and manage freelancers while bringing transparency to data needed for compliance reporting.

Work Market, the SaaS solution that helps companies easily engage and manage their freelance and independent contractor workforce, announces today the launch of new features that enable enterprise organizations to identify and engage with multiple freelancers at once and manage their job performance. Specifically included in this toolset are features like Bulk Uploader, or the ability for companies to upload multiple assignments at once and Contact Manager, whereby enterprises can better map available freelancers against client locations. These tools build upon Work Market’s patent pending Freelance Management System Framework, which has been a critical component of the company’s technology since its inception in 2010, and are geared specifically to further meet the needs of enterprises as they continue to work with freelancers at scale.

“Each of these features was designed to further meet the specific needs of enterprises as they continue to work with freelancers and independent contractors at scale,” said John Marcontonio, Senior Product Manager. “What we’ve seen across our 400 clients to date is that the future is not just about getting more work done, but rather about having the tools to manage the work more intelligently. With this new product release, we are further providing the enterprise with exactly what they need to optimize every stage of the freelance workforce management process.”

This product launch is Work Market’s most recent example of the company bringing enterprises tools and processes to fully develop a new workstream specifically focused on the contingent workforce. Moreover, it further expands upon Work Market’s Freelancer Management System Framework, which has been at the core of the company’s product since 2010.

The six key components of the Framework include:

  • Find: Identifying the talent with the skills, expertise and geographic proximity to open work.
  • Verify: An organized approach for verifying skills, credentials and qualifications.
  • Engage: Assigning work to freelancers and independent contractors while tracking deadlines and deliverables.
  • Manage: Tracking and reporting against multiple freelancers and contractors in multiple locations.
  • Pay: Developing a payment engine that reduces the need for paperwork while making clear when various payments are due.
  • Rate: Creating a feedback loop with performance ratings and rankings.

“The time has come for enterprises to think closely about the role that freelancers and independent contractors are going to play in the workforce, not just of 2015 but of 2025,” says Jeffrey Leventhal, Co-Founder and CEO of Work Market. “All of the data points to the growth in freelancers as a percentage of overall workers, and from what we have seen working with the Fortune 500, a Freelancer Management System ™will become crucial. We also believe that the FMS Framework, which Work Market has uniquely created and offers as part of the only end-to-end Freelance Management System, should be the blueprint for every company working with freelancers, whether or not they are partnering with a technology solution to support them.”

Work Market, recently named one of Crain’s New York Business’s Fastest Growing Companies, has filled more than one million work requisitions to date. It currently serves 400 enterprise clients with 27,000 freelancers working through the platform on a daily basis. The company has grown more than 500 percent in the last two years, and works with hundreds of enterprise clients, many of which exceed a billion in yearly revenue.
