Destination Halifax, the dedicated tourism marketing organization of the Halifax region, has been awarded the Gold Service Award by Meetings & Conventions Magazine. The award honors Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) that have demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication and service.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said Patricia Lyall, President and CEO, Destination Halifax. “One of Halifax’s greatest assets is our people. Service excellence is a source of pride for Team Halifax, and we’re thankful to have been recognized for it by the readers of Meetings & Conventions.”

US-based meeting planners voted for the top CVBs throughout the world and awarded the Gold Service distinction to 17 international CVBs and tourism boards. Of those, Canada was represented by four winners, including Destination Halifax.

“Setting these bureaus apart is their dedication to continually provide quality service to all clients,” said Kirk Lewis, Publisher, Meetings & Conventions magazine. “Gold Service winning CVBs know the value of creating a lasting impression can never be understated.”

Meetings & Conventions voters made their selections on criteria including professionalism of staff, hotel and site inspection support, assistance with ground transportation planning, guidance on local attractions and liaison with local vendors and services. Winners will be featured this November in the Meetings & Conventions Gold Awards issue.

Destination Halifax is a partnership of the Province of Nova Scotia, the Halifax Regional Municipality, the Hotel Association of Nova Scotia and participating industry members. Since its inception in 2002, Destination Halifax has operated with a goal of promoting the Halifax region as a year-round destination of choice for business and leisure travelers.
