WEDI Appoints Four New Security and Privacy Workgroup Co-chairs

WEDI announces four new co-chairs to guide WEDI's efforts to help facilitate the implementation of HIPAA/HITECH privacy and security requirements across many variations of covered entities, business associates and interested parties across the healthcare industry.

The talent and passion that our new co-chairs are bringing to our Security and Privacy Workgroup are unmatched, and we appreciated their continued efforts to strengthen the data security of healthcare.

The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI), the nation’s leading nonprofit authority on the use of health IT to create efficiencies in healthcare information exchange, announces its appointment of four new co-chairs to the organization’s Security and Privacy Workgroup. The workgroup leaders include:

  •     Peter Dumont, Senior Director – Privacy Office, Optum
  •     Erik Pupo, Specialist Leader, Deloitte Consulting LLP
  •     Deidre Rodriguez, Director of Corporate Privacy Office, WellPoint
  •     Richard Wagner, Security and Compliance Officer, ABILITY Network
  •     Mark Cone, Principal, N-Tegrity Solutions Group Consulting, LLC (Existing co-chair)
  •     Marian Reed, Senior Director, McKesson (WEDI Board Liaison)

The named executives will guide WEDI’s efforts to help facilitate the implementation of HIPAA/HITECH privacy and security requirements across many variations of covered entities, business associates and interested parties across the healthcare industry.

“We are honored that these individuals have been appointed to serve on the WEDI Security and Privacy workgroup leadership team. These executives will be instrumental in helping our industry implement existing security and privacy initiatives while at the same time helping to build an effective framework to guide our industry as we look towards the rise of mobile and cloud technologies,” said WEDI President and CEO Devin Jopp, Ed.D.
