The Global Foundation for Peace through Soccer, a Kansas based international non-profit organization, is hosting a special soccer clinic in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday, October 25th. This clinic will take place at the Chase Middle School in Topeka from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This free soccer clinic is being offered for youth players ages 8 to 15 (male and female alike). Free food and outstanding soccer instruction will be offered.
Two of the high profile coaches that will participate in the Topeka Soccer Clinic are Diego Gutierrez and Daouda Kante. Mr. Gutierrez played for 15 seasons in the MLS with both Kansas City and Chicago. He also played for the United States National Team. Daouda Kante, originally from Mali, is a former MLS player with the New England Revolution and participated as a member of the Mali National Team as well. Mr. Kante presently runs the Kansas Rush youth soccer organization in Olathe, Kansas, and he is the Chairman of the Douda Kante Foundation.
The purpose of the Topeka Soccer Clinic on Saturday is to spread a message of “peace through soccer.” According to the Global Foundation’s Chairman, Antonio J. Soave, “This soccer clinic is a testimony to the fact that soccer can be used as an effective and relevant tool to break down cultural, religious and ethnic barriers, and to focus on the commonalities that link all members of the human family.” Soave added that the Foundation is planning “soccer missions” in the countries of Haiti, Mali and Brazil in 2015.
