Long Fence's generous barricade contribution to the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure earns the fencing industry leader a diamond level sponsor position. As Brett Crouse, a member of the Long Fence Team states, "We're providing approximately 3,375 linear feet of barricades."

"Over the years, we have established a great working relationship with this foundation and their worthy cause," says Crouse.

These barricade panels will ensure that the race remains a safe and organized event for all involved -- the staff, the participants and the spectators. The fencing will help to form race registration lines, maintain race routes and keep spectators clear from race traffic, which ensures everyone's safety.

Participants of the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure will begin at the Executive Plaza parking lots, across Shawan Road from Hunt Valley Towne Centre, and will finish the race at Schilling Circle. Komen Maryland offers a timed, 5K competitive run, a 5K recreational run, a 5K walk and a one mile family fun walk.

Komen Maryland hopes to raise $2 million, a large portion of which will help fund national breast cancer research. The rest of the funds raised through the race will help Komen Maryland to provide grant funds to community organizations that offer direct services in their local community. The donations will help fund clinics and hospitals that screen for breast cancer, mammograms and diagnostic tests, hospital-based support and mentoring programs for breast cancer patients, as well as medical transportation, quality meals, and co-pays.

Last year, the funds from such events as the Race for the Cure allowed the Komen Foundation to diagnose 61 cases of breast cancer and helped provide 8,453 women with clinical breast exams, screen 6,775 women, support 2,633 breast cancer survivors and counsel 353 children who were impacted by breast cancer.
