Travel Weekly has announced the winners of their annual Magellan Awards and Montrose Travel was bestowed the honor of not only one, but three awards in 2014. For the third year in a row, the Top 50 Travel Management Company received the Gold Award for Best Marketing Campaign, as well as a first-time Gold Award for Web Marketing and Silver Award for Best Promotional Video. With entries pouring in from 40 states and 12 countries, recipients were judged against a standard of excellence and represent the best of the best in travel.
The Magellan Awards are selected by a panel of nine travel industry heavyweights and salute a broad range of industry segments including Hotels and Resorts, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, Tour Operators and Car Rental Companies. Magellan entries that score between 90 and 100 receive the Gold Award, considered the highest honor in the travel industry.
The campaigns that earned Montrose Travel these accolades exemplify the creative, industry-leading techniques implemented by various teams within the company. Winner of the Gold Award for Best Marketing Campaign, “Where in the World is Adventure Joe,” follows an endearing cartoon character as he travels the world and keeps Montrose Travel customers guessing where he will visit next. This entertaining and interactive campaign, which included direct mailers, e-marketing, newspaper ads and a contest to win a free river cruise, helped achieve company goals and strengthened relationships with customers by educating them with fun facts and introducing them to new destinations.
Montrose Travel also won a Gold Award for Web Marketing, recognizing the online platform Travel4Me.com. The website showcases cruise and land suppliers’ offers to a more specifically targeted group of customers. Visitors to Travel4Me can create a personalized URL populated by travel offers that reflect their own specified vacation preferences. This user-friendly site enables Montrose Travel to tailor their email blasts and landing pages to the types of travel deals customers want to see, making relevant offers readily available to them. Furthermore, the site allows Montrose Travel to better segment and effectively target their customers based on a more personalized approach.
Rounding out the trifecta with a Silver Award for Best Promotional Video, Montrose Travel Corporate Services Meetings & Incentives team was applauded for their testimonial video “Incentive Travel: Increase Sales & Build Relationships.” This was created in partnership with consumer electronics manufacturer Kenwood USA. The talented Meetings & Incentives team has been working with Kenwood over the last 10 years planning and creating their yearly incentive trips for Kenwood’s clients and vendors. This mutually beneficial relationship has increased Montrose Travel’s business more than 50% year over year. Their video showcases this successful partnership while encouraging other companies to invest in incentive travel.
