Zeus Learning today announced the general availability of Strata (https://stratasim.com), a high fidelity, HTML5 simulation engine for personalized training and assessment in Microsoft Word and Excel 2013. This unique application permits student to train and assess themselves in a simulated MS-Office environment complete with menus, ribbons, toolbars, and dialog boxes. Skill building is reinforced by enabling learners to complete tasks in exactly the same manner as they would when actual working inside Word and Excel.
Traditional media like books, CD-ROMS, and video tutorials has been ineffective in addressing skills based training required for mastering business productivity applications. Strata aims to address this need by allowing learners to work in a simulated environment that mimics the entire look, feel, and behavior of Word and Excel. Learners are free to explore the user interface of the application, navigate within documents, and explore dialog boxes as they perform tasks. All user actions are tracked in the background with grading being performed on-the-fly, based on students’ interactions with the simulation.
Running entirely within modern browsers on PCs, Macs, and tablets without any additional installation, Strata provides subscribers with over 100 highly interactive media-rich questions each in Word and Excel. All questions are aligned to Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) standards with induction to key concepts provided by audio and visual feedback.
Strata encourages users to explore and learn at their own pace by using tried and tested methodology, such as the Show-Me tool which guides users on a step-by-step basis helping them complete tasks with audio, textual, and visual hints. Similarly, students who face difficulties performing tasks within a question can utilize the Hint tool, which provides users with tiny snippets of information and enables them to move to the next step within a question.
The product includes a powerful assessment and user-action tracking system to provide detailed exportable reports to users based on their actions during a session. This can be utilized by subscribers to analyze weaknesses and implement remediation.
Subscribers are encouraged to create focused study plans based on their areas of interest by utilizing a simple Study Plan Generation Wizard. Alternately the My Coach tool can be utilized to create personalized study plans based on the user’s performance within a system generated assessment.
Strata is available immediately at https://stratasim.com with a 30 day, or 6 month access period. Subscriptions to Word and Excel can be purchased separately or as a bundle. A 30 day risk free trial is also available.
Strata has been developed by Zeus Learning (http://zeuslearning.com), a well established e-learning software development firm with branches in London, Boston and Mumbai.
