StratusVue, the leading provider of collaborative document management solutions for the construction industry, today announced that Pepper Construction Company, a national provider of general contracting and construction management services, was recognized as a 2014 Vision Award winner by Constructech magazine. The award was given in the category of Builder/GC Commercial $251 million to $500 million. StratusVue was a member of the supporting technology team, which also included Autodesk. The announcement was made during the Vision Awards Dinner as part of Constructech’s annual Technology Day event.
The Constructech Vision Awards acknowledge companies that have stayed up-to-date on the latest trends and products in order to make decisions that have helped their businesses succeed and thrive. Companies eligible to submit for the competition include residential construction, commercial, and heavy construction businesses, professionals in all trades, architectural and engineering firms, corporate owners, facility management companies, government agencies, and land developers.
“From commercial to residential, owner to contractor, there is one point they can all agree on: It is all about the data. How do you harness it? What insights can it provide on a job? How can it make a company more profitable?” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech. “The 2014 Vision Award winners have found ways to answer these questions, and it can be seen in their success.”
As part of the winning project, Pepper utilized StratusVue’s BIMfx solution to satisfy their customer requirements for improved data transfer from construction to building operations. Having declared that all future projects would be competed using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, Northwestern Medicine wanted to use BIM as a means to streamline data migration to their facilities teams. BIMfx makes the process of asset data collection more straightforward for the contractor, and provides significantly improved access to documentation for facilities management purposes. StratusVue worked together with the other technology vendors to ensure that BIMfx would get Northwestern better information earlier in the process.
“BIMfx allowed our team to take full advantage of all the project information, documentation, and data that was collected during the life of the construction effort and rapidly repurpose it for the Owner,” said Kevin Bredeson, Virtual Construction Director for Pepper Construction. “With StratusVue we were able to leverage the information in BIM and make it available for operation of the facility right away – without needing to teach the maintenance personnel how to view a model.”
“We are honored to be recognized for this award as part of the innovative and collaborative team that worked on this project.” said John Goecke, President of StratusVue. “Winning a prestigious Vision Award validates the exciting direction that BIMfx is facilitating by helping contractors and building owners to manage the ever-increasing amounts of rich data available on today’s construction projects.”
