Utah State University Joins Leading Institutions to Modernize Grant and Research Management with KualiCo
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) October 28, 2014 -- KualiCo, an open source software company focused on the delivery of administrative solutions for higher education, announced today Utah State University has selected Cloud Enterprise for Grant and Research Management to further improve the university’s research administration efficiencies and serve as a single, reliable source for proposal, award, and compliance information.
Utah State joins other KualiCo cloud customers like Portland State University, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Georgia Southern University, Coastal Carolina University, and Towson University. They are the first institution to join KualiCo since the acquisition of rSmart’s Kuali SaaS business. Utah State also joins an impressive group of Kuali Coeus Community members like Boston University and Indiana University.
KualiCo delivers community-developed, open source Kuali Coeus software from an education-focused cloud environment with out-of-the-box reporting, tailored configuration, and system integrations.
“USU’s Division of Sponsored Programs recognized that our proprietary system needed to be significantly updated,” said Mark McLellan, vice president for research and dean of the School of Graduate Studies at Utah State. “Rather than re-program our current system, we decided it would be more cost-effective to deploy a new cloud-based solution designed specifically for higher ed that would continue to adapt over time to our needs.”
KualiCo will help Utah State electronically manage their research activities by:
- Streamlining pre- and post-award processes to increase efficiencies and lower costs
- Simplifying management, tracking, and reporting on research compliance
- Improving oversight with timely and reliable reporting
“After an extensive search, we determined that the Kuali family of software was the best fit for Utah State. The suite will provide a robust update to our current system capabilities, along with additional functionality to continue growing our research enterprise,” said McLellan.
CEO Joel Dehlin added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Utah State as they extend the capacity of their research programs. As a leading land-grant research institution, Utah State will bring valuable perspective and insight to KualiCo and the Kuali community.”
