Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) October 28, 2014
Kurbo Health, the first safe and effective mobile weight loss program for children and teens, has been selected as one of three finalists competing for a $30,000 prize in the “Innovation Tank” competition at Boston Children’s Hospital’s annual Global Pediatric Innovation Summit + Awards later this week.
Moderated by entrepreneur and ABC’s “Shark Tank” judge Daymond John, the “Innovation Tank” event on October 31st will feature a panel of venture capitalists, clinicians/researchers and pediatric healthcare industry leaders considering pitches from health care innovators seeking investments for their business or product designed to improve pediatric care. Judges will decide how to “invest” $30,000 of funds sponsored by Philips Healthcare and will provide valuable insights to the presenters and audience on accelerating innovations and bringing them to market.
Kurbo CEO and co-founder Joanna Strober will present the concept behind Kurbo, which combines a smartphone app and online program with virtual and live, personalized coaching designed to help children ages 8-18 make healthier eating choices and lose weight. Kurbo is based on Stanford University’s renowned Lucile Packard Pediatric Weight Control Program.
