Strategic Capital Partners, LLC delivered its first in a planned series of angel investment events bringing together the region’s emerging-growth technology companies with private equity investors. The October 8 event held at Dutch’s Daughter afforded 14 investors from the Mid-Atlantic region the opportunity to invest in four companies representing 3D printer manufacture, prayer-centered social media, poultry litter processing, and digital school activity payment consolidation.
President and managing partner Mark Greathouse noted, “I am excited to be part of this initiative to enable the most promising entrepreneurial enterprises in the Mid-Atlantic region to secure the capital needed for the growth that spurs innovation, builds value, creates jobs, and ensures a thriving economy.”
Angel investors are defined as high net worth individuals that fill the capitalization space between a company’s start-up funding – usually referred to as “friends and family” – and the larger fund-based venture capital that serves companies further along in maturity. As firm partner and BMC Accounting President Brett Hess describes, “These angels are often successful entrepreneurs themselves. They share a passion for helping fellow entrepreneurs succeed.”
People are increasingly familiar with the hit cable show “Shark Tank,” in which entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to a panel of wealthy investors in an often brutally dynamic format. By contrast, the Strategic Capital Partners events are modelled after successful angel investment events in which companies offer a 10-minute pitch to investors followed by timed rounds of questions and answers. Hess adds, “While it can be every bit as exciting as ‘Shark Tank,’ our interested investors follow-up with the entrepreneurs privately after the event.”
Strategic Capital Partners offers a truly comprehensive business and financial services model toward becoming a new industry standard for private equity financing and forging a reputation for enabling the very best early stage investment opportunities. The firm especially recognizes that value and, thereby, wealth is created by the levels of innovation that tend to either invent totally new industries or completely disrupt existing industries.
