The Georgia Kings, based out of Atlanta, Georgia, will begin its 2014-2015 inaugural basketball season within the Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL). Formed and owned by Sharone Wright and Ray McKenzie, the Georgia Kings will continue the further expansion of the TRBL with its play in the Southeast United States region.
The Georgia Kings ownership group of Sharone Wright and Ray McKenzie contains a winning mixture of professional basketball front office and court experience along with a significant business management and event organization history to create a unique experience for fans of the minor league Georgia Kings franchise.
“We founded the Georgia Kings in Atlanta, Georgia to make sure we field a winning franchise, provide a safe, fun, and great experience to the Atlanta community, while giving back to the people in the metropolitan area,” stated Sharone Wright, President and General Manager. “Our primary goal is to win games in the TRBL, but an equally important goal is to make an impact in the Atlanta, Georgia community by working with schools, universities, outreach programs, and local businesses.”
The Georgia Kings will play their inaugural season at the Benjamin E. Mays Sports Complex in southwest Atlanta, Georgia at 3450 Benjamin E Mays Drive, SW Atlanta, Georgia. An aim of the franchise is to feature a different charity or organization to assist in raising funds to further individual causes.
“As a professional minor league basketball franchise we want to immerse ourselves in the community. We want to increase the involvement of professional sports in the Atlanta area while working with non-profit organizations and schools,” stated Ray McKenzie, owner. “We will create a sporting event that keeps the support for the Georgia Kings high and increases the outreach of positive programs to help families and the community. We want to help people, win games, and have a good time.”
The inaugural season of the Georgia Kings will begin with training camp in late November 2014 with the season opening in early December 2014.

The Georgia Kings of the Tobacco Road Basketball League will begin its inaugural season in 2014-2015. The team is founded by Sharone Wright and Ray McKenzie. The organization is focused on bringing an elite minor league basketball team to the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area while developing amazing basketball talent with a goal to win Tobacco Road Basketball League championships.
