Dr. Montes and the Christ Hospital team will be performing Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Band (LAP-BAND) surgeries at the Jersey City hospital and seeing patients in New Jersey Bariatric Center's Hoboken office on Hudson Street.
Dr. Montes will help lead a newly expanded staff that provides multiple weight loss surgery options and the highest quality health care to the region. Dr. Montes is a board certified general surgeon with training in advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Dr. Montes graduated summa cum laude from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and was a Howard Hughes Clinical Research Fellow. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and finished her general surgical residency at University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Montes completed an advanced laparoscopic fellowship at University of Texas in Houston, and a bariatric fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has experience in a breadth of general surgical and bariatric laparoscopic cases, including gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic herniorrhaphy and laparoscopic colectomy.
