Welcoming students to our manufacturing plant is a great educational opportunity to see how skills learned in school translate to a real business environment.

Wood-Mizer LLC, the world’s leading sawmill manufacturer, welcomed four Southeast Indiana schools to their sawmill manufacturing facility located in New Point, Indiana. The educational event, part of Manufacturing Day 2014, included a classroom presentation and facility tour followed by a live Wood-Mizer portable sawmill demonstration turning logs into lumber.

In cooperation with EcO15, a program connecting residents of Southeast Indiana with economic opportunities through education, Wood-Mizer welcomed more than 80 students from Greensburg HS, Batesville HS, South Decatur HS, and North Decatur HS to their sawmill manufacturing facility. During the tour, students were able to see first-hand the process of making a Wood-Mizer sawmill from raw materials to finished product application.
