The American Board of Audiology (ABA) today announced that Robyn T. Abernathy, AuD, of Huntsville, AL; Kollene Cordero, AuD, of Falls Church, VA; and Nasreen Naitah, AuD, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, are now Board Certified in Audiology®. By obtaining this certification, Drs. Abernathy, Cordero, and Naitah demonstrate their commitment to professional excellence in audiology.

The ABA identifies and formally recognizes audiologists whose knowledge base is consistent with the highest professionally established credentials and distinguishes them as Board Certified in Audiology. By entering into this voluntary certification program, Dr. Abernathy, Dr. Cordero, and Dr. Naitah have demonstrated commitment both to achieving and maintaining high professional standards and to remaining current in the latest audiology developments and issues. The Board Certified in Audiology credential helps consumers recognize those individuals who have completed standardized education and training and are committed to continuing their professional development.

The Board Certified in Audiology program is administered by the ABA for the express purpose of certifying audiologists. Mindy K. Brudereck, AuD, Chair of the Board of Governors for the ABA, notes, “Achieving ABA Board Certified in Audiology certification is a visible way for audiologists to show colleagues and patients that they are highly committed to professional excellence," said Dr. Brudereck. “By taking this voluntary step, Drs. Abernathy, Cordero and Naitah are demonstrating their commitment to excellence in audiology, and we commend them for that.”

The ABA has been granting certification to audiologists since 1999. Board Certified in Audiology is a voluntary certification program administered by audiologists for audiologists through the ABA. Benefits accrue to both the audiologist and the consumer through recognition of the commitment to continued education in the field of audiology.
