Krittenbrink Design Chosen Best Fraternity House in the Midwest
Norman, OK (PRWEB) November 04, 2014 -- The FIJI House at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, a Krittenbrink Architecture LLC design, received an enthusiastic thumbs up from COED magazine recently when it was tapped “Best Fraternity House in the Midwest” by the publication. COED chose 20 outstanding houses throughout the nation, with top honors going to the OU FIJI house for being “the nicest fraternity house in the Midwest and…very well [the] greatest in the country.”
“The original house on Boyd Street was timeless and elegant. We wanted to design a space that reflected its original masculinity and elegance, but offered updated amenities, like suites and computer labs, that are required by today’s college student,” said Mark Krittenbrink, principal architect. Working with photos of the original house, he revised details to allow the use of sturdy, up-to-date materials while replicating old design elements. Modern site amenities such as a large common area were incorporated to allow for accessibility, sports, and brotherhood. Interior spaces were designed to resemble a gentlemen’s club, and private rooms were planned as suites with separation of study and sleeping areas.
