Care Logistics Launches the Patient Itinerary to Improve the Patient Experience
Atlanta, Ga (PRWEB) November 03, 2014 -- Care Logistics introduces the Patient Itinerary, a new component of the Hospital Operating System designed to make patients happier by keeping them and their families informed at all times about their care activities.
“Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, it is often difficult for patients to know what diagnostic or procedural services they are supposed to have today and when exactly they will occur,” said Jim Rosenblum, executive vice president products and chief technology officer of Care Logistics. “The hospital is a dynamic place where situations change and schedules change all the time. As a patient, it’s extremely helpful and comforting to know when these changes impact the plan for your day.”
With the Care Logistics Patient Itinerary, a patient can view important information about his or her day on a personal device such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop:
• Scheduled orders for today and pending, unscheduled orders
• Activities the nurse or physician has added to the patient’s schedule
• Targeted or planned discharge date and time
• Messages to and from family and friends
• The nursing unit and bed and current location
• The names of the nurses and physicians responsible for the patient’s care
The hospital can select what information to display and how. Patients can also choose to share all or part of their itineraries with family or friends. Patients can see when their schedules change throughout the day and when orders are added, rescheduled or cancelled.
“We and our hospital partners fundamentally believe both the patient and hospital benefit when the patient is fully informed of his or her care plan and activities,” said Rosenblum. “By making this information easily available, the hospital demonstrates its commitment to open communication between patients and caregivers.”
The Care Logistics Patient Itinerary is available to hospitals that use the Hospital Operating System.
