Duncan, Oklahoma (PRWEB) November 12, 2014 -- The Simmons Center in Duncan, Oklahoma wins, as selected by the community, the 2014 Favorite Fitness Center award.
An inspirational example of the Oklahoma "can-do" spirit is manifested in the L.B. and Ola Simmons Community Activities Center and Jack A Maurer Convention Center. The massive 105,000 square-foot facility houses a recreation center designed to meet the recreation and fitness needs of all ages through its outstanding design, state-of the art equipment and innovative programming. The elegant Jack A. Maurer Convention Center has the ability to host events with attendees ranging from five to nearly 1,000. Located within easy driving distance of Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Wichita Falls, Dallas and other areas of the southwest, it is a perfect venue for corporate and association meetings as well as private events such as family reunions and wedding receptions. The finale to this amazing facility is the exquisite performing arts theatre which has been heralded by performers all over the globe. Seating 750 in continental style seating, the Theatre showcases all of the performing arts as well as general sessions for conventions.

January 3, 2015 will mark the Simmons Center's 25th year. Executive Director Martha Burger and all of the staff from the Simmons Center invite the community and the surrounding areas to join them that day for an all day 25th birthday celebration filled with lots of activities and prize drawings. The fun will continue through the month of January with lots of exciting things planned. January 8th will celebrate the past and create a dream for the future with a "black tie" Gala at the Jack A Maurer Convention Center. Look forward to participating at the Simmons Center in the coming months. Youth basketball sign ups are happening now at the recreation center. Pee Wee League is grades K-2nd with a cost of $50 per player, that includes 10 games and clinic. Youth League is grades 3rd-6th with a cost of $60 per player, that includes 8 games, clinic and regional tournament. Join the Simmons Center for Kid's Night In November 14th and January 16th. This program is for kids 6 weeks to 11 years and is a special night for mom and dad to make plans out and leave the kids for a night of pizza, games, swimming and safe fun. The Jack A Maurer Convention Center is hosting its Annual Daddy Daughter Dance December 12th. Cost is $30 per couple and $5 per additional daughter. Tickets are limited and can be purchased now by calling 580-252-2900 ext 240 or by stopping in Mon-Fri 8am to 4:30pm.
