Nashville Songwriters Perform at the Holiday Inn Resort
(PRWEB) November 02, 2014 -- The Holiday Inn Resort Panama City Beach is excited to announce that Saturday night over Veteran’s Day Weekend, guests will enjoy a special treat with an intimate night of country music in the resort’s SunSet Lounge. A trio of songwriters, Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle & Jerry Salley, will take the stage for a free show just for the resort guests giving live performances of songs they wrote that were recorded by artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Diamond Rio, and tons of others. The show will start at 7pm on the stage in the SunSet Lounge and be open to all guests.
“We’re always looking to provide our guests with a unique experience, something they won’t get at just any hotel,” Says Philip Colvin, Marketing Director at the Holiday Inn Resort. “All throughout the year we provide different types of activities, entertainment, and amenities for our guests to enjoy, and it’s taking that extra step – along with the incredible service that our resort team provides – that really sets our resort apart from the rest.”
Many of the resort’s guests are big country music fans, they know this because their in-house D.J. who plays a variety of music poolside during much of the year, gets tons of requests for country music. It’s this attention to detail that lead the resort to putting together this type of unique show for their guests.
Carl Jackson began his career during childhood. When he was only 14 years old, he was invited to play banjo for Jim and Jesse and the Virgina Boys, which was one of the most respected bluegrass bands during that time. After working with the Virgina Boys, he landed a job with Glen Campbell and spent many years working with him. Between 1984 and 1985, he charted three singles on the Billboard country music charts, including the No. 44 hit “She’s Gone, Gone, Gone”, and was also named Bluegrass music’s “MVP” in 2006. He earned the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Song of the Year award in 1990 for “Little Mountain Church House”, which was recorded by Ricky Skaggs and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Jerry Salley is an American country and bluegrass singer-songwriter. In 2003 Salley won the SESAC’s “Country Music Songwriter of the Year” award and has been singing and writing in Nasvhille for many years. To date, he has had 300 songs recorded, including hits by Reba McEntire (“I’m Gonna Take That Mountain”), Wild Rose (“Breaking New Ground”), John Anderson (“I Fell in the Water”), Wade Hayes (“How Do You Sleep at Night”) and ten top-twenty gospel songs. He’s also had songs recorded by Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Darryl Worley, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless and may others. He has appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, Regis and Kathie Lee, Today Show, and several shows on the former TNN network, as well as performed on numerous stage shows including the Grand Ole Opry.
Larry Cordle has a band of his own, but has written songs for Garth Brooks like “Against the Grain”, which was also recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys, as well as Loretta Lynn - “Country In My Genes”, George Strait - “Hollywood Squares”, Diamond Rio -“Mama, Don’t Forget To Pray For Me”, Trisha Yearwood - “Lonesome Dove”, and many others.
The resort hopes their guests will enjoy this intimate night of country music with these incredible song writers over the long holiday weekend.
“Veteran’s Day Weekend has grown year over year as it’s a long weekend for many people and traditionally the weather is perfect for a quick beach getaway – somewhere in the mid 70’s to low 80’s – which is great for enjoying a walk on the beach or for soaking up the sun in our heated pool. This year we wanted to find a way to give our guests something unique to enjoy over this great weekend.” Says Colvin.
This resort is currently the #1 hotel on Tripadvisor for Panama City Beach – and for good reason. The resort team goes above and beyond in many ways, and providing special events, such as this songwriters trio, is just one of them. Over the last six months the resort has hosted a Vegas Style Variety Show, Magic Show, Polynesian Fire & Dance Show, a Poolside DJ or 2 piece band, a variety of kids activities programs, and even free concerts by Daryle Singletary! This type of entertainment, combined with all the other amenities the beachside hotel offers makes the Holiday Inn Resort on Panama City Beach anything but your average hotel.
