The new site is a clean and fresh offering for visitors so they can easily navigate the huge range of products on offer. The home page greets visitors with a selection of bestsellers, and from there a very easy to use side menu bar opens up a world of magic for beginners through to amateur/professional magicians.
Houdini, the Hungarian-American illusionist and stunt performer died on the 31st October 1926 from an infection of the tissue lining the inner wall of the abdomen, caused by a ruptured appendicitis. It is recorded that this condition was a result of receiving blows to the abdomen by a student J. Gordon Whitehead who was testing Houdini’s claim that he could withstand any blow to the abdomen.
There are plenty of varied reports as to how this actually went down, but it is safe to say that Houdini received a beating that he did not have chance to prepare himself for. His stubborn commitment to his working schedule prevented him from receiving medical attention early on but realistically, in a time pre-dating antibiotics, he was unlikely to recover once the infection had taken hold.
To discover the secrets of some of Houdini’s great escapes, and of course other great illusionists (Thurston, De Kolta, Downs, Goldin), visitors can seek out a CD on the site entitled ‘Magical Patents: Secret Archive of Illusion Secrets’. There are also books, DVDs and schematics to help people follow in Houdini’s footsteps. Magicians can try their hand with some magic restraints from the escapology section and put their talents on the line.
Of course Magic Nevins’s site does not just contain illusion and escapology aids. There is a huge range of subject areas to meet any budding magician’s expectations. Take the genres of mentalism, street magic, ventriloquism, stage magic, practical jokes, hypnotism as example.
The team are extremely happy with the site because it has made browsing their stock so much easier for visitors. It is also a more mature site to reflect their experience in the industry and shows how Magic Nevin has grown into a household name over the last 12 years.
