Riverbed and GNS3 Technologies to provide integrated solutions that extend the Riverbed Application Performance Platform

GNS3 Technologies, the central hub where network professionals and vendors come to design, test and collaborate in a virtual environment, today announced at Riverbed FORCE 2014 that it has joined the Riverbed®-Ready Technology Alliance program to bring new capabilities to Riverbed and GNS3 customers, expand the value and impact of Riverbed solutions in specific industries and markets, and help customers master the technical challenges of the hybrid enterprise.

“Joining Riverbed-Ready lets us develop integrated, tested solutions that give our community of network professionals the assurance that the solution works as promised,” said Stephen Guppy, CEO of GNS3 Technologies. “All of the capabilities users enjoy with SteelCentral’s leading NPM and APM tools on a real network – pervasive visibility, dynamic discovery, behavioral analytics, dependency mapping, visual analysis, and more – can be done in GNS3 on a virtual network.”

The GNS3 software provides a virtual environment to design, test and optimize networks without having to purchase a single piece of hardware, eliminating the need for expensive physical testing and configuration labs. GNS3 allows direct integration and installation of Riverbed’s SteelCentral network and application performance solutions within the GNS3 software. GNS3 users will be able to test SteelCentral Packet Analyzer, Virtual NetExpress and Virtual NetShark in the GNS3 simulation environment for enterprise-wide traffic monitoring and analysis that includes full Wireshark integration. Deploying these integrated tools allows for optimization during the network design phase, reducing the costs and risks associated with new network builds and configurations.

“Through the new Riverbed-Ready program, Riverbed and GNS3 Technologies will provide our customers integrated solutions that extend the Riverbed Application Performance Platform,” said Katie Colbert, vice president, global technology alliances at Riverbed. “Together, Riverbed and its partners are providing end-to-end solutions that provide deep visibility and control to inspect, direct, and protect workloads across the hybrid enterprise.”

The program framework enables partners to extend the Riverbed Application Performance Platform, the most complete platform for analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving application, network, and end-user performance issues anywhere in the hybrid enterprise. Riverbed-Ready partners will focus in areas such as security, cloud and virtualization, business applications, network performance management, application performance management, networking, and storage. Partners can leverage Riverbed open APIs and additional development tools to help with customization, integration, and automation.

Riverbed Application Performance Platform product families include: Riverbed® SteelCentral™ for end-to-end visibility, analytics, and diagnostics across the hybrid enterprise; Riverbed® SteelHead™ to optimize and control application delivery throughout the hybrid enterprise; Riverbed® SteelFusion™ to consolidate branch infrastructure in the data center and optimize delivery of apps/data to branches; Riverbed® SteelStore™ to turn the cloud into a low-cost data storage tier; and Riverbed® SteelApp™ to optimize application delivery and load balancing in hybrid cloud environments.
