Kikkerland Design and Bed Bath & Beyond® Launch Design Project to Highlight Emerging Talent
New York City, New York (PRWEB) November 01, 2014 -- The Kikkerland Design team partnered with home furnishings retailer Bed Bath & Beyond® in August this year on the kick-off of its seventh design challenge, to give young designers a platform to present their product ideas. Believing that future designers need to be 'thinking' designers, the project offers design students the potential opportunity to have their product ideas produced and sold commercially.
Students from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Cranbrook Academy of Art, and Rochester Institute of Technology were invited to create an innovative storage and organization product that provides a solution for a more enjoyable college living space. Two months later, fifty-one students have submitted 109 innovative design ideas for a dorm room product that provides a solution for over the door hanging; desk, jewelry, closet and shoe storage; or under the bed.
The Kikkerland Design team is proud to announce that online voting will open November 1st at http://www.kikkerlandbbbdesignproject.com for the public to choose their favorite product from the Bed Bath & Beyond® design project. Voting closes November 15th, and shortly after a people’s choice award will be given to a contestant, with their product being considered to be produced and sold at Bed Bath & Beyond® for Back To School 2015.
With an Academic Winner, a Production Winner, and a People’s Choice Winner, the winning designers will have the opportunity to have their products sold exclusively within Bed Bath & Beyond locations, receiving a royalty fee for their design.
