I want to show you a Jimi Hendrix lick, it’s an easy one, but a cool one

“I want to show you a Jimi Hendrix lick”, says Johnson, “it’s an easy one, but a cool one”. Claude demonstrates this lick in the key of D based in the minor pentatonic scale that incorporates a variety of techniques including; raking, bending, hammer-on’s, pull-off’s and vibrato. Johnson demonstrates the lick as follows; starting off rake into a D major chord, 12th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger, 11th fret of the 3rd string with 2nd finger and bar the 10th fret of the first two strings with first finger. Next Johnson follows the rake by descending the pentatonic scale starting on the 13th fret of the 2nd string with 4th finger to the 10th fret with first finger to the 12th fret of the 3rd string with 3rd finger and then a bend & release and then a pull-off to the 10th fret with first finger and finish it off with vibrato. Claude repeats this entire sequence twice and then finishes it off with what he calls a “wailing bend”. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy lead guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
