Sport Court® Selects IndoChina Starfish of Cambodia for Inaugural Court Award
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) October 31, 2014 -- Sport Court® has selected the IndoChina Starfish Foundation of Cambodia (ISF) as the recipient of the new Court Award program, which was developed to provide a court surface to a not-for-profit, Sport for Development group. The announcement was made on Oct. 28 at the Beyond Sport Summit in Johannesburg.
Indochina Starfish helps some of the poorest, most disadvantaged children in Cambodia and will receive a professional-grade Sport Court® playing surface to support their football program which delivers coaching, leagues, and tournaments, and has grown from 50 players in 2006 to almost 3,500 in 2014 including a football program for females that has grown from 48 players in 2008 to over 1,400 in 2014.
“Sport Court is extremely pleased to name Indochina Starfish as the recipient of the inaugural Court Award based on ISF demonstrating not only a need for a premium quality, safe court surface for their football program, but also the ability to provide on-going programing that will improve the lives of youth in their community,” said Brandi Bloodworth Connolly, Sr. Director for Connor Sport Court International (CSCI).
Sport Court received applications from over 28 countries for this first-ever court award through the company’s Courts for Communities program to build a safe place to play for youth in their community.
"The IndoChina Starfish Foundation are absolutely thrilled to win the Connor Sport Court Award,” said Vicheka Chourp, ISF Country Manager. “This will help provide vital security and sustainability of our ISF Football Programme which currently benefits 3,500 disadvantaged girls and boys, including deaf and hearing-impaired players and players with intellectual and physical disabilities. The pitch will enable the programme to grow and provide inclusive football and social development to many more children in the future."
CSCI has been involved in the Sport for Development movement for many years working with Beyond Sport; FIVB; NORCECA; USTA; NCAA; Love Futbol; US Soccer Foundation; Nancy Lieberman Foundation; Coaches Across Continents, and other leading sports organizations that support the movement.
