Lincoln, Neb. (PRWEB) November 03, 2014 -- Smart Degree members are encouraged to complete their Smart Degree Student Marketplace profiles and submit their responses to “Finishing my degree is important because…” to the Smart Degree contest site by November 30. The winning response, based on jury evaluation and votes collected through the contest page, tallied through December 15, will win a $1000 scholarship.
“Adult learners have often tried to complete their degrees—without success—multiple times. Smart Degree is preparing students personally, academically and financially to try one more time—and succeed,” explains Dale Leatherwood, vice president of Smart Degree business development. “The $1000 scholarship is just a little extra help for someone with a great reason for wanting to finish a degree.”
Smart Degree is a program with free services designed to help adults with some college credit return to school to complete their bachelor’s degrees. Smart Degree provides free mentors and free career and education assessments, along with opportunities to lower the total cost of a degree through access to low-cost, online college courses and the innovative Smart Degree Student Marketplace, where colleges compete for student enrollment.
The low-cost, online general education courses available through Smart Degree are offered by Bellevue University, a regionally accredited, non-profit university, and are available at a discounted price of $450 per course ($150 per credit hour) for Smart Degree members.
The Smart Degree Student Marketplace is a revolutionary new approach to help students find the ideal college or university. Smart Degree members work with their mentors to identify educational goals and plans. Once a student is prepared, he or she will build an anonymous online profile in the Student Marketplace that outlines his or her goals, experiences and academic and career history. Smart Degree Partner Schools review this information and present competing offers to the student, offering details on accepted transfer credits, competitive pricing and other financial incentives for the desired degree program. The Smart Degree member makes a school selection based on the offer best aligned to his or her academic, career and financial goals and will then begin discussing the enrollment process with the selected school.
“Finishing my degree is important because…” is one of the fields within the Smart Degree Student Marketplace profile. Smart Degree members are encouraged to detail why they are focused and committed to the ultimate goal of graduation. The response to this profile question is utilized as the entry for the Smart Degree November Scholarship Contest.
The Smart Degree November Scholarship Contest grand prize winner will be awarded in January. For full contest details, click here.
