Life Chiropractic College West announces the launch of their women’s scholarship Rugby Program today.
“Life West is proud to announce the introduction of a women’s rugby scholarship from 2015. Approved by the Board of Regents this month and following on the hot heels of the men’s rugby scholarship program, we are happy to add a women’s scholarship for our 2015 season. The men’s team is moving into Division 2 in U.S. Rugby in only their second season and so we have high hopes for the women’s team too,” Life West President, Dr. Brian Kelly said. “This is very exciting for both USA Rugby in California and for growing the Life West brand of excellence through chiropractic.”
Rugby is one the fastest growing sports in the United States and will be featured in the fast approaching 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The opportunity for high performance rugby players from around the world to study chiropractic in California at Life West is an incredible marriage of two passions of sports and wellness.
Life West evaluated four sports for consideration for a new scholarship program, and in terms of profile to the college and chiropractic, the ability to attract outstanding athletes, the potential to win national championships, and the cost of competition, Rugby was the clear winner.
Life West is very excited and confident of the new rugby program to complement the men’s team with the recent appointment of an international Rugby Coach and former professional Rugby player, Adriaan Ferris who joined the college from New Zealand this month.
