Today, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters announced the opening of their new second store location in the Little Italy district of San Diego. The new larger location in Little Italy features two state-of-the-art espresso machines and a pour-over bar. To support the two retail locations, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is also opening a 3,000-square-foot roasting facility, which will house additional roasting equipment and will also serve as a wholesale distribution center for businesses and customers.
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters first debuted their flagship location in La Jolla in 2006, directly across the street from a Starbucks. Since then, the roaster has received numerous accolades for their service and coffee quality, most notably the “Roaster of the Year” award in 2012 from Roast Magazine. Specializing in the practice of direct trade, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters was the first to introduce this practice to the San Diego community and will continue to showcase the specialty coffees in their new 1,400-square-foot Little Italy location.
“When I opened the first Bird Rock Coffee Roasters’ location in La Jolla eight years ago, I simply wanted to provide the best possible coffee to my neighbors and community,” said Chuck Patton, owner of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. “Now I’ve seen the impact become much larger beyond my backyard, and want to influence and educate the entire coffee community through direct trade practices.
